Walker, Langford and Green remain OUT vs. Detroit Pistons 1/3

While the state of the Boston Celtics roster had little to do with their New year’s day 96 – 93 loss ot the Detroit Pistons on Friday, health may be one of the few advantages the Motor City franchise has on its side ahead of the two team’s pandemic series rematch this Sunday afternoon.

That and perhaps the energy and sense of purpose they displayed in their win against a more talented Boston team that came out flat and took a loss for their shortcomings as a result. For at least this contest, the Pistons figure to be fully healthy with not even one player on the last posted injury report to the league office.

The Celtics on the other hand will be without starting point guard Kemba Walker, still recuperating from a stem cell injection in an often-sore knee, and second-year wing Romeo Langford, recovering from surgery on his wrist to repair a torn tendon.

Reserve wing Javonte Green is also sitting as part of the league’s health and safety protocols, presumably due to proximity to an active COVID-19 case outside the ambit of the team.
