Walker dies after falling on Snowdon

A person walking up Snowdon has died after falling a "significant distance".

Llanberis Mountain Rescue said the tragic incident took place on Wednesday afternoon.

North Wales Live reported that having received numerous reports from people on the Pyg track, North Wales Police notified the mountain rescue team at around 1pm that day.

A hill party was taken to Pant Y Lluwchfa by a coastguard helicopter, but the walker had not survived their injuries from the fall.

In a statement, Llanberis Mountain Rescue said: "With assistance from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter Rescue 936 and their crew, a hill party were lifted and delivered to Pant y Lluwchfa.

"On arrival at scene, it was found that the walker had not survived their injuries and the team carried out the task of gathering evidence and retrieval on the steep ground under the Trinity Face.

"All the team would like to pass on their sincere condolences to the family of our fellow hill walker."
