Walker dies after falling a 'significant distance' while climbing Snowdon

A walker has died after falling a "significant distance" on Snowdon.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue have confirmed the death of the walker, who has not been named at this stage.

North Wales Police notified the mountain rescue team at around 1pm on Wednesday after they received a number of reports from people on the Pyg track.

A hill party was taken to Pant Y Lluwchfa by a coastguard helicopter, but the walker had not survived their injuries from the fall, North Wales Live reports.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue said in a statement: "With assistance from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter Rescue 936 and their crew, a hill party were lifted and delivered to Pant y Lluwchfa.

The tragedy happened on Wednesday (Daily Post Wales)

"On arrival at scene, it was found that the walker had not survived their injuries and the team carried out the task of gathering evidence and retrieval on the steep ground under the Trinity Face.

"All the team would like to pass on their sincere condolences to the family of our fellow hill walker.

"We'd also like to thank Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team as always for their support with this incident too."
