Walkabout in Swansea closes its doors for the last time

A Swansea nightlife institution is closing its doors for the last time. Walkabout on Wind Street took to Facebook on Sunday to announce it will be closing after 20 years.

The Australian bar thanked staff from over the years and invited revellers to share its memories of Grand Slams and Swans victory celebrations in the venue over the years.

In a post, it said: "G'day Swansea! After 20 years all good things must come to an end, we're closing our doors for the last time tonight.

"Thank you to all staff (past and present), our regulars and customers who have experienced it all with us over the years.

"From Grand Slams to Wales making a major football tournament for the first time and of course the Swans in the Premier League! It's been an absolute blast and we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for the memories - post your pics below. Come and join us tonight to say goodbye to the old place."

Fans of the bar responded with their disappointment. Karen Tanner said: "I had such good nights out here. Goodbye and good luck to all the staff and thanks for some good nights."

Leigh Rees said: "Went there when it first opened and best place to watch the rugby for many years, sad to see it close."

Andrew Rowlands said: "I had some great times in Swansea Walkabout over the years way back, gutting to see it go."
