Walk in covid vaccination site to open at city mosque

A Liverpool mosque is to open a pop-up covid vaccination site tomorrow and members of the public in priority categories are invited to walk in to receive a jab.

The site, at the Al Rahma Mosque on Hatherley Street in Toxteth, has been coordinated by Central Liverpool Primary Care Hub and will be open from 10am to 6pm.

Letters have been sent out to eligible residents in the local area, with translated versions also posted out to ensure maximum uptake within the city's most multicultural area.

Those who are eligible to receive the vaccine tomorrow include all people over the age of 65 and adult carers.

People with chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, will also be eligible to attend and receive a vaccination.

More than 18 million coronavirus vaccinations have been given out in the UK since the vaccination programme began a few weeks ago.

The most vulnerable have been first to get theirs, while least vulnerable will have to wait a little bit longer until they get jabbed.

The government announced last weekend they expect all adults will be offered the first dose by July 31.
