WalesOnline Property Awards 2019: Room Makeover of the Year voting now open

The Room Makeover of the Year category, sponsored by Nuwave, celebrated the transformation of a room from bland to beautiful as part of the WalesOnline Property Awards 2019.

Look at each room's interior design and then vote for your personal favourite using the form at the bottom of this article. You will also find links to vote for your winner in the other four categories.

The three room makeover finalists are:

Louise Evan's bathroom

Louise explains: "We bought a house in need of some TLC and have spent nine months renovating rooms, with the bathroom being one of the first to be finished (and one of our favourites)!

"The bathroom was quite a narrow shape to work with so decided to put the bath at the back of a walk in shower with and industrial style glass panel. This combined with the candles and mirrored panel shelf makes it really cosy and relaxing.

"My favourite bits of the bathroom has to be the star floor tiles and mirrored panel at the back of the bath."

Elizabeth Silva's lounge / diner

Elizabeth said: "We purchased our property in 2015 in Welsh St Donats.  It was a 70s detached property that had never been renovated.

"It was a very dark property but with the most amazing views over the Vale of Glamorgan.

"We decided to live in the property for a while to look at how the light and shadows moved during the day and eventually worked with an architect.  We started work in summer 2017 and completed the project a year later in June 2018.

"We opened up a large but very dark lounge and kitchen and made it into a bright and very sociable lounge, kitchen and dining room."

Judge Jenny Evans, designer and CEO of Jenny Kate, says: "It was an absolute pleasure to judge the entries in this year's competition.

"The standard was so high and it was so difficult to choose! I adore all three of our finalists entries. I was really looking for spaces that displayed someone’s personality - making it a home, not a house.

"I feel that all three have demonstrated this so well. Good luck to the finalists!"
