Wales youngster Owen Beck has just left Liverpool fans raving as Jurgen Klopp gives glowing verdict on starlet's future

Wales youth international Owen Beck has become the latest youngster to catch the attention of Liverpool fans, following a highly accomplished performance during the Reds' pre-season clash with Athletic Club at Anfield on Sunday.

Beck, who earlier in the summer signed a five-year deal to keep him on Merseyside, is already highly rated by club insiders, and has was part of the club's 25-man training camp in Austria last month.

The 18-year-old's progress is also catching the eye of Wales fans, particularly given that he's the great nephew of legendary striker Ian Rush.

Having already seen fellow countryman Neco Williams break into the first team reckoning at Anfield, the young left-back will clearly be hoping that he continues to catch the eye of boss Jurgen Klopp, and did his chances no harm at all on Sunday afternoon.

Klopp's immediate focus will be on the fitness of Andy Robertson, who was forced off with a suspected ankle injury at half-time, and the Scottish star seems a huge doubt for the club's opener with Norwich City next weekend.

Beck, Robertson's replacement on the day, perhaps helped soften what will be seen as a huge blow ahead of the new season, with Klopp left impressed by the young Welshman's showing at Anfield.

"Owen is a super talent, I'm really excited about him," he told LFCTV after the game, which saw both teams share the spoils after Alejandro Berenguer Remiro's second half striker cancelled out Diogo Jota's early opener.

And, it seems he wasn't the only one, with Liverpool fans taking to social media to heap praise on the youngster.

Even Beck's team-mates have taken notice, with Trent Alexander-Arnold adding: “He has impressed us in pre-season. The signs are there he is going to be a top player - he got the opportunity today and he took it.”

Whether he has done enough to warrant a place in Klopp's plans for the new campaign remains to be seen, but it seems certain that fans both here and on Merseyside are likely to be keeping a close eye on the left-back's progress over the next few months.
