Wales Women friendly announced for March as Euro 2021 qualifier preparations continue

Wales Women will come up against Estonia in a friendly in March as they look to continue preparations for the second half of their Euro 2021 qualification campaign.

Jayne Ludlow's side will play Estonia on Friday, March 6 (7pm kick-off) at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, the first time the side will have played there since 2012.

Estonia are managed by former Wales Women manager Jarmo Matikainen - Ludlow's predecessor - who was Wales boss between 2010 and 2014.

The two sides have met four times previously, with Wales having won two matches and drawn one in the previous encounters.

The clash is set to prove vital preparation for Wales as they head into their final four fixtures in their Euro qualifiers, with two key home matches against the Faroe Islands and Norway in April. Wales currently sit second in Group C, four points behind leaders Norway.

The FAW say a return to north Wales for the national side is part of its aim to grow the women’s and girls’ game across the country.

Wales' Elise Hughes, who hails from Hawarden in Flintshire, said: "The news of the national team playing in Wrexham has really excited me. Having grown up in the area, I hope the fans turn up in their numbers and we inspire young girls to help the game grow in north Wales.”

Tickets, priced £5 adults and £2 for U16s and 65+, can be purchased  here .
