Wales v England team news: Eddie Jones makes three changes and stacks the bench for Rugby World Cup warm-up

England have made three changes to their team to face Wales in the return leg of their Rugby World Cup double-header in Cardiff this Saturday.

British and Irish Lions stars Maro Itoje and Courtney Lawes both come into the starting side, with the former replacing Charlie Ewels in the second row and the latter taking the place of Tom Curry in the back row.

Lewis Ludlam makes the switch to openside to make way for Lawes and fill the void left behind by Curry.

Elsewhere, the only other change sees Ruaridh McConnochie take his place back on the wing after being ruled out of last weekend's contest through injury. He replaces Anthony Watson.

There is some serious firepower on the bench, though, where Owen Farrell, Jamie George and Kyle Sinckler all appear.

“Our selection strategy for our second game is similar to the first, so a bit of a mix-and-match approach," said England boss Eddie Jones. "We are looking at different combinations and have a particular strategy for this game.

“The game is very much about ourselves preparing for the World Cup and we are respectful that we have got such strong opposition at their home ground. We are looking forward to it.

“The squad has been progressing well this week and I think there is a realisation among the squad now that the hard work really starts, nothing has been achieved.”
