Wales travel rules will now be announced tomorrow by Welsh Government

The Welsh Government will announce new travel rules for Wales tomorrow.

The cabinet met today to decide on new travel restrictions within Wales and also what border rules will be in place.

Tourism businesses had been pressing for answers on this with England's lockdown ending today.

It had been hoped news would be announced today.

But a spokesman says this will now come out on Thursday morning - although coronavirus regulations have now revealed the steps they are set to take.

Hotels are already closing due to a lack of clarity on the issue.

While England was in lockdown the border was closed off as both nations had restrictions in place - although travel was allowed within Wales.

England's lockdown ended this morning and travel rules have been lifted by UK Government on those living in Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas.

But Welsh accommodation businesses don't know if they can take bookings.

The existing regulations in Wales prohibit border travel except for work or other essential activities but Welsh Government said it was reviewing these.

Pale Hall hotel near Bala posted on social media last night that they would close until December 17, when the restrictions in Wales are next reviewed.

They thanked their dedicated team of staff and understanding of guests due to stay but criticised Welsh Government for delays on a decision.
