Wales star Josh Adams to miss England clash and rest of Six Nations with ankle injury

Wales have been dealt a significant blow ahead of their Six Nations clash with England at Twickenham after revealing that star wing Josh Adams will miss the remainder of the tournament through injury.

The Cardiff Blues flyer hurt his ankle during the latter stages of Saturday's 27-23 defeat to Grand Slam hopefuls France and will now require surgery to repair the issue.

Adams will be absent for the trip to England on March 7 and Wales' last match of their title defence against Scotland at the Principality Stadium seven days later.

It is a huge loss for new coach Wayne Pivac, with the 24-year-old - who finished as the top try scorer at the 2019 World Cup in Japan - having further underlined his lethal finishing abilities with a hat-trick in the 42-0 demolition of Italy on opening weekend.

"Josh Adams will play no further part in the 2020 Guinness Six Nations following an ankle injury sustained in the match against France," a statement from the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) read.

"He is due to have surgery this week and it is envisaged that he could return in 12 weeks for the latter stages of the Guinness PRO14."
