Wales shock fans by changing crest as plans for new kit are revealed

The Football Association of Wales has changed its emblem for the first time in almost a decade.

The 2010 logo has been heavily stripped back, leaving the dragon to take centre stage while the green border remains.

The "Gorau Chwarae Cyd Chwarae" motto will be stitched below the collar of future national team shirts, with one larger sized daffodil set to feature above the poignant words.

It will be rolled out in full later this year.

A statement on the FAW website read: "The FAW is greater than the sum of its parts. With responsibilities ranging from the National Teams to the Domestic Game, Governance to Football and Player Development - each area is equally important.

"That is why a brand has been developed that reflects and celebrates this belief, providing a unifying system across the whole of the FAW, while allowing each individual element to shine. A truly modern, iconically Welsh brand.

"The FAW supports all levels of Football in Wales and our Dragon is the embodiment of that. An icon of strength, support and resilience, embracing the past whilst looking to the future."

The new emblem has received mixed reviews from members of the Red Wall on social media.

The design will be included on the new kit which will be revealed in November.
