Wales set to be hotter than Ibiza in the first week of the Easter holidays as temperatures reach 20 degrees

Get those barbecues out, because it looks like we could have a scorching Easter break here in Wales.

Meteorologist Dean Hall said that as the week goes on, it's set to get warmer.

"The trend through this week is for things to improve," he said.

"On Tuesday, there is a frontal system that will bring rain and underneath that, it will be a bit on the cold side.

"That fades away and it's from then onwards where things become dry and more sunny, with some mist and fog around, but that will fade.

"By the end of the week, there is a high pressure system to the north over Scandanavia, and an area of low pressure in the mid-Atlantic.

"The UK is in the middle. Between the two, the flow draws in warm air from the continent."

So what is Easter weekend looking like weather-wise for Wales?

"Good Friday is looking dry, getting spells of sunshine," Dean said.

"We could see temperatures of 20C in the west, with probably a chance we could see 21C in some locations.

"Anywhere on the coast will see the best of the temperatures , with temperatures of around 18C or 19C in land.

Scandinavian chill puts a block on milder weather

"Through the week, that remains over the Easter week.

"The Saturday and Sunday looks dry with a bit of haze. Temperatures will be in the low 20s possibly in the west parts of Wales.

"But temperatures could reach 21C, maybe a touch higher.

"From Easter Monday, things become a bit uncertain. We may start to see things deteriorate.

"Easter Monday will be fine and dry, but beyond that, it could be more unsettled."

Heading to holiday destinations like Ibiza, though, and things are looking a bit cooler.

Temperatures on Good Friday on the holiday island are only set to hit a peak of 16C, with rain forecast the next day.
