Wales send Hal Robson-Kanu, Rabbi Matondo and Tyler Roberts home from international duty after protocol breach

Hal Robson-Kanu, Rabbi Matondo and Tyler Roberts have been released from the Wales squad after breaching protocols.

The trio have been sent home to their respective clubs and will return to them on Monday afternoon.

The Football Association of Wales have not disclosed what has led to the players being sent home, merely stating that protocols had been breached.

In a statement on Monday, they said: “Three members of the Cymru senior national squad – Hal Robson-Kanu, Rabbi Matondo and Tyler Roberts – have been released from the Welsh camp today after breaching FAW protocol.

“The three players will be returning to their respective clubs this afternoon. The FAW will not be making any further comment.”

The trio would have expected to be part of Wales’ squad to face the Czech Republic on Tuesday as part of their country’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

All three of them played against Mexico in a friendly on Saturday, with Leeds United’s Roberts and Matondo of Schalke both starting in the 1-0 win. Robson-Kanu, who plays for West Brom, came off the bench.
