Wales rugby star Ellis Jenkins performs duet with famous singer girlfriend Sophie Evans and blows people away

Rugby fans are in no doubt the back-row ability of Wales and Cardiff Blues flanker Ellis Jenkins on the field of play.

But it seems he has picked up a new talent during his recovery from the knee injury which has kept him out of the game for more than a year.

A clip of Jenkins performing a duet with his girlfriend, singer Sophie Evans, has gone down a storm, with the flanker having only started playing the guitar in November. The pair sing Shallow from A Star is Born, originally sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Tonypandy's Sophie, of course, rose to stardom as a finalist in Andrew Lloyd Webber's talent show Over The Rainbow, went on to play Dorothy in the hit stage show The Wizard Of Oz and most recently Glinda in smash West End hit Wicked.

She tweeted the clip on Wednesday night.

One of Jenkins’ greatest days on a rugby field also turned out to be one of his worst back in November 2018.

Having produced a Man of the Match display in Wales’ victory over South Africa last November, he injured his knee in the closing seconds and required surgery on his anterior and medial crucial ligaments, as well as his tendons.

Jenkins has been working on his recovery since, having to undergo a second operation on his knee, but hopes to return to the rugby pitch soon.
