Wales rugby fans say it was right for Byron Hayward to go but reject idea defence is biggest area of concern

Wales rugby fans believe Wayne Pivac was right to dispense with the services of Byron Hayward, but also feel defence isn't his side's biggest problem.

We ran a fans' survey after the weekend announcement to assess you views about Hayward leaving the coaching set-up following a review of the Six Nations, in which Wales won just one match.

On the question about whether Hayward's exit was the right decision, 75% of respondents said yes.

In his absence, Gethin Jenkins will take on more responsibilities heading into the Autumn Nations Cup opener against Ireland this Friday, before Pivac conducts a search for a permanent replacement post-autumn.

As for a permanent replacement, fans - surprise, surprise - named Shaun Edwards' as the most popular candidate to fill the role, followed by Steve Tandy and Jenkins.

However, a majority 63% of respondents do not believe Wales' defence is actually their biggest issue.

Attack, breakdown and set-piece were listed as other concerning areas, with Pivac himself also named as a problem.
