Wales' Jess Fishlock and Sophie Ingle to face each other in UEFA Women's Champions League semi-finals

Wales Women's captain Sophie Ingle and most-capped player Jess Fishlock will face each other with their respective clubs in the UEFA Women's Champions League semi-finals next month.

The Welsh team-mates are both through to the last four after a dramatic night for Chelsea and Lyon on Wednesday in the quarter-finals.

Chelsea Women, where Wales skipper Ingle plays her club football, trumped Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on aggregate thanks to an injury-time goal from Maren Mjelde, sending her side through to the semi-finals for the second year running after a night of high drama in Paris. Chelsea would reach their first Women's Champions League final if they can beat Lyon next month.

In Germany, title holders Lyon knocked out Wolfsburg for a fourth year running thanks to a 6-3 aggregate score over two legs. French giants Lyon, where Fishlock is on loan from her parent club Seattle Reign, will be hoping to retain the silverware and clinch their fourth title in a row.

Lyon will now host Chelsea on April 20/21, before the second leg in London on April 27/28. Bayern Munich will take on Barcelona in the remaining semi-final, before the grand finale in Budapest on May 18.

But before that, Wales Women are back in action next week when they take on Czech Republic on Thursday, April 4, at Rodney Parade (7pm kick-off).

After two friendlies against the Republic of Ireland in Marbella almost a month ago, the fixture will act as further preparation for Wales before they begin their Euro 2021 qualifying campaign against the Faroe Islands in August.
