Ospreys star and Wales international Scott Williams has suffered yet another crushing injury setback after it was announced his season is over.
Williams injured his back in the warm-up of a match against Munster in January and has undergone an operation today.
He won't play again this season, the Ospreys have confirmed.
Williams has been plagued by serious back and hamstring problems over the past 18 months that ultimately cost him a place in Wales' Rugby World Cup squad.
It emerged he had struggled to even bend over when he reported for Wales' training camp last summer and he hasn't been unable to recapture the form that has previously seen him shine on the international stage.
Eight years ago, he scored the match-winning try against England in a famous Six Nations win, but the past year or so has been a tale of utter woe.
He missed last year's Six Nations with a back problem and the previous autumn campaign because of a hamstring tear.
An Ospreys statement read: "Centre Scott Williams injured his back in the warm up to the Munster game in January. This injury was investigated and referred to a specialist for advice on the injury management.
"After discussions between the specialist, the Ospreys medical team and Scott on the best available management options and the decision has been made for Scott to undergo surgery on the 4th March 2020.
"Scott is expected to return to full training for the start of pre-season in preparation for the 2020/21 season. "
