Wales has just smashed its Easter temperature record and is hotter than Madrid

Wales has just broken the temperature record for Easter Sunday.

The previous record was set on April 22, 1984 of 21.6C at Brynamman was smashed today today.

The new record on dead on 23C was recorded at Trawsgoed near Aberystwyth .

Temperature records have also been broken in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The mercury in Wales rose 8C higher than the Spanish capital of Madrid. 

Temperatures in Wales are set to be higher than Madrid for the next three days.

The latest forecast for the Met Office and BBC meteorologist suggest that the mercury is set to be up to 10C higher in Wales than parts of the Iberian peninsula.

2019 has been full of record breaking temperatures this year.

Back in February parts of the UK reached 21C depite still being in the depths of winter.

How long will the weather last?

A Met Office Meterologist said: "We are confident the warm weather is going to be here well into next week.

"Monday will still be warm and sunny but the high cloud will mean it appears hazy and slightly milky.

"It will however be more humid but will feel more refreshing near the coasts.

"There may be the odd shower in south Wales on Tuesday but Wednesday will see a fall in temperatures and heavy rain.

"The whole of the UK will wet weather coming up from the south. Cardiff will see rain from early on Wednesday morning when we may have to issue weather warnings." This is why your hayfever is so bad and what you can do about it
