Wales Euro 2020 tickets, the difficulty with Baku flights and the cost of hotels

Wales fans have just days left to wait before they can start the process of getting themselves tickets for Euro 2020.

The excitement levels for the tournament reached new heights on Saturday

Ryan Giggs' side were placed into group A alongside

They will take on Switzerland first on June 13 at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Wales face Turkey - once again in Baku - four days later in their second group match before locking horns with Italy at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on June 21.

Here's a rough guide as to how much flights, hotels and tickets will cost fans hoping to follow Wales next summer.

Flights

Wales fans will be hoping to fly out to Baku for the opening game of the tournament against Switzerland at the Olympic Stadium on June 13.

And many members of the Red Wall who travel to Azerbaijan for the opener will be eager to remain in the capital for the second group game with Turkey on June 17.

Direct flights to Baku are difficult to come by from the United Kingdom, and they're expensive to say the least.

The cheapest route from Cardiff costs £614 with Opodo, and that will take you just shy of 12 hours once you stop in Amsterdam and Kiev, with that particular journey seeing you arrive on the day before the game with Switzerland and leaving the day after the clash with Turkey.

The return flight departs Baku at 5:10am on June 18 and gets you back to Cardiff for 9:30pm on June 19 after stops in Amsterdam and Kiev.

So for fans looking to keep costs to a minimum, they're better off picking out flights with a connection or two, and travelling from major airports around the UK rather than going from Cardiff.

Return flights with connections are currently available from Manchester (from £295), Edinburgh (from £329), London (from £333) and Bristol (from £346).

As for Rome, this will be far easier for Wales fans.

Once again, there aren't direct flights to the Italian capital from Cardiff, but it's far cheaper and easier to manage than Baku.

A flight from Cardiff to Rome on the day before the clash with Italy - with stops in Amsterdam and Paris - takes a total of 10 hours and 30 minutes, with the same route in reverse taking nine hours and five minutes for £288.

As always, flying from airports outside of Wales tends to be drastically cheaper.

Return flights from London Heathrow to Rome are currently available for just £108 via Skyscanner. The outward flight is direct while the return goes via Lisbon in Portugal, with flights the day before and after the match being chosen in this example.

Hotels

At things currently stand, hotels are reasonably priced in both Baku and Rome.

However, as the tournament edges closer and with fixtures now confirmed, expect prices to escalate.

Hostels on the outskirts of Baku are available for as little as £10 a night on the night before Wales' clash with Swizterland.

But as you'd expect, they're far more expensive in the city centre, with some costing up to £275 a night.

As for the final group game against Italy in Rome, double rooms on the outskirts of the capital are available for around £30 on the night of the match.

If you stay nearer to the centre, prices range from £70 to £450.
