The deputy chief medical officer in Wales says he would be "very surprised" if every restriction in Wales is lifted by June 21.
Yesterday Prime Minister Boris Johnson set out a four step plan to fully ease the lockdown in England by that date - with regular reviews that could affect the timescale.
The fourth step from 21 June will potentially see all legal limits on social contact removed, with the final closed sectors of the economy reopened - such as nightclubs and large events.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson told MPs the plan aimed to be "cautious but irreversible" although he later said he could not "guarantee that it’s going to be irreversible".
Wales' deputy chief medical officer Dr Chris Jones was speaking to BBC Radio Wales on Tuesday about potential reopening dates in Wales.
Welsh Government has its own roadmap for Wales although this currently does not include potential dates for sectors like hospitality.
Dr Jones said it was "absolutely impossible" to give a date for when restrictions would end and warned it would take a long time before people would be able to do things like mix freely in nighclubs.
He said: "I would be very surprised if (that date) was the case. I think there is going to be a considerable time before we are mixing freely in nightclubs, or without any form of social distancing, or protection.
"I would be very surprised if we achieved that, but it would be wonderful if that was possible.
"We still have to restrict our activities because this virus still thrives on person to person contact, and that is going to be the situation for many months to come."
He added: "The messaging to the public has always been very important.
"To send the message that everything is going to be back to normal in a few months time is almost too open.
"It is a message with some risk and we still need people to obey the rules because we do know that this pandemic could easily go out of control again.
"We are not out of the woods yet. This is a critical time where there is risk with relaxing restrictions."
