Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones at Wimbledon 2019 to watch Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in Centre Court Royal Box

Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones led a plethora of sporting stars at Wimbledon on Saturday.

The British and Irish Lions lock took his place in the Royal Box on Centre Court to watch tennis legends Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in action in the men's third round.

And he might even get to see Andy Murray in action with double partner Serena Williams if he's lucky.

Jones was joined by fellow rugby stars Dylan Hartley and Maro Itoje as well as a host of stars from football, cricket, cycling and athletics.

Olympians Sir Mo Farah and Sir Chris Hoy were both in situ, as were former boxing world champions Carl Froch and David Haye.

England’s World Cup cricket stars Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan were also in attendance, enjoying some relaxation ahead of this week’s semi-final, while former fast-bowler Jimmy Anderson took in the action too.

England football manager Gareth Southgate was also in the Royal Box.

The middle Saturday of the SW19 tournament has also held the tradition of sporting stars being invited to the Royal Box on the venue's biggest show court.

Murray and Williams had their match with Germany's Andreas Mies and Alexa Guarachi of Chile cancelled on Friday night but, with the time and court still to be confirmed, although not before 5:30pm, there is a chance they could play on Centre Court in front of the intimidating Welsh lock.
