Wales call up Ulster star Bradley Roberts in shock announcement

Wales have called up South African-born hooker Bradley Roberts following injuries to Ken Owens and Elliot Dee.

The 25-year-old Ulster front rower is eligible through his paternal grandmother, who hailed from Llandysul, and has previously had a spell with RGC in Colwyn Bay.

He has made 10 appearances for Ulster, who he joined for 2020-21, most recently as a try-scoring replacement against Connacht last weekend.

You can read more about his journey from Durban to the Wales camp here.

Owens had to withdraw from the Wales team to face New Zealand this weekend, after failing a fitness test on a back problem.

Dee had already left camp and rejoined the Dragons because of a neck injury, with Cardiff’s Kirby Myhill joining the squad.

With Owens’ withdrawal, Ryan Elias will start against the All Blacks, with uncapped Myhill on the bench.
