Wales boss Ryan Giggs has cheeky jibe at Aaron Ramsey on 'one of the greatest nights' of his life

Ryan Giggs described Wales' 2-0 win over Hungary as one of the greatest nights of his life.

Aaron Ramsey's brace at Cardiff City Stadium ensured the Red Dragons finished second in Group E, with that seeing them secure a place at Euro 2020.

Giggs won everything on offer during his playing career at Manchester United, including 13 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.

But he admits leading Wales to a major tournament was right up there with the achievements he managed with the Red Devils.

"It’s up there. It's one of the greatest nights of my life. Simple as that," said the manager.

"It's a special, special night. After what happened in the summer, to come back and to qualify the lads have showed grit, determination, quality and a never give up attitude, they deserve all the plaudits they get.

"Even though we had games to make up, there was no room for error and the quality and concentration they have shown - they deserve it."

Ramsey netted in either half as Wales claimed the victory needed to secure a place at next year's tournament.

It was the Juventus star's first start for Wales in more than a year and only his second appearance for the national side in 2019.

And Giggs admitted Wales have missed the 28-year-old's quality, joking that his match-winning performance was long overdue.

"Better late than never I suppose!" quipped Giggs.

"We have missed him. We've missed that quality. We have some very good players within the squad, but they don’t grow on trees, players who make the difference.

"Aaron tonight was the difference. It couldn't have worked out any better, on Saturday, getting him on the pitch, and he put on a really good performance on Saturday.

"He carried that on today, with the goals, with his overall performance, composure, quality and finding them little pockets. I'm really pleased for him."

Wales now await the outcome of the which takes place later this month.
