Wales boss and Man Utd legend Ryan Giggs names the three best young footballers on the planet

Wales boss Ryan Giggs has named the three young players in world football who excite him the most.

Giggs has brought in a youth revolution with Wales, the thrilling teens and early TwentySomethings firing the Dragons to the Euro finals again.

But while he name-checks some of the Welsh young guns, none of them quite make it onto Giggs' elite list of the top three according to reports.

He is quoted as choosing £120million Manchester United target Jadon Sancho among his picks, with the England star's Borussia Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland also chosen.

Giggs also reserves a special word for Marcus Rashford, who is still only 22.

Speaking to Laureus, Giggs said of 20-year-old Sancho: "A young player who's made the bold decision to leave Manchester City and go to another country at a young age. And he really has made a difference."

He talks up 19-year old Haaland "who's scoring lots of goals" and says of Rashford: “I’ve seen him coming through the ranks, such a talented player."

However, Giggs made a point of also naming some of the players who have helped revive Wales' fortunes under him.

“And I’ve got a lot of good young players in my Wales team, the likes of David Brooks, Dan James and Ethan Ampadu," he said. "It’s great when you see young players burst onto the scene and they're just fearless.

"They don't think too much about the game and just express themselves. And you think back to when you were like that.”
