The AA has revealed the UK’s top campsites and caravanning destinations at the 2021 Caravan and Camping Awards virtual ceremony and a family-run site in the Brecon Beacons has won the accolade of best in Wales.
Returning for the first time since 2019 the Caravan and Camping Awards celebrate those sites offering guests the most comfortable and welcoming stays in the UK and Pencelli Castle caravan and camping park came out top for Wales.

AA inspectors called Pthe site a “charming park offering peace, beautiful scenery, high-quality facilities and a wildflower meadow”.
Pencelli Castle site lies within and around the defensive moat of the actual castle, which has been on the location since 1080 AD. It's around four miles from Brecon town and the Taff Trail passes the entrance while the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal borders the camping field.
AA inspectors added: "The attention to detail is superb and the well-equipped, heated toilets with en suite cubicles are matched by a drying room for clothes and boots, full laundry, and a shop."
It's run by Gerwyn Rees and his sons, Craig and Morgan. The campsite was founded in 1990 by Gerwyn and his wife Liz who sadly died in 2016.
Another honourable mention came for Riverside Camping in Caernarfon which won most Improved campsite of the year.
