Wales could play six rugby matches this autumn as World Rugby announced recommended dates for the revised 2020 international schedule.
Under the proposals, which will be put before the World Rugby council to be ratified on July 30, a new window for international matches will start on October 24 and run through until December 5.
The weekends of October 24 and 31 will be when the 2020 Six Nations is completed, with Wales expected to play their rescheduled match against Scotland on the 31. The WRU announced on Wednesday that all tickets for the postponed March encounter have been cancelled and will not be valid for the rearranged game, which seems likely to be held in London. Ireland would be expected to play against Italy on October 24 as it was the only match in round four to be postponed due to the virus.
That would leave the first weekend of the international window blank for Wales, Scotland, England and France, and teams could decide to hold a warm-up match.
After the completion of the Six Nations on October 31, there will then be a rest weekend on November 7/8.
There will then be four consecutive weekends of matches between the six nations and 'invited teams' from November 14 through to December 5.
Japan, Fiji and Georgia have all been mooted as teams who could be invited to play matches later this year.
If games have to be played behind closed doors this autumn, Wales will play at one of the four regional rugby venues on offer.
However, if limited crowds are allowed in England and/or Wales, then Wayne Pivac's side will play home games in London, with Twickenham, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and West Ham's London Stadium all being considered.
The WRU will not be hosting matches at the Principality Stadium until the 2021 Six Nations as it remains a field hospital.
