Wales and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale tests positive for Covid-19

Wales and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has tested positive for Covid-19.

The 32-year-old has not played for the Spanish club since their 1-0 win over Real Betis in August, although he has made four Wales appearances during that period.

He recently returned to training with the Spanish outfit following a period on the sidelines due to injury.

However, he is now required to isolate under government guidelines after returning a positive coronavirus test.

A club statement issued by La Liga giants Real Madrid read: "Real Madrid C. F. informs that our players Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin and Rodrygo, and our head assistant coach Davide Ancelotti have tested positive for COVID-19."

It comes after the Spanish outfit revealed Luka Modric and Marcelo had also returned positive Covid-19 tests.

Bale has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, four of which have been for Wales.
