Wales and Chelsea star Ethan Ampadu's drastic new look unveiled as he gets first ever haircut

Wales star Ethan Ampadu has unveiled a drastic new look after getting his famous dreadlocks chopped off in his first ever haircut.

The 19-year-old, currently on loan at RB Leipzig from Chelsea, opted for a radical change and the results have been unveiled just days before Christmas in a social media video.

Footage has been posted online by celebrity barber HD Cutz - who also cuts hair for stars including Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Usain Bolt - Ampadu can be seen arriving at a hotel room and settling in to the barber's chair before the transformation begins.

The barber, real name Sheldon Edwards, chops off Ampadu's trademark dreadlocks with scissors before delving in with clippers.

The video post on Instagram says: "Change. It is always inevitable.

"Never be afraid to make Your Personal transition, It will create a new perspective. . . . .

"Never had a haircut all his life ... now he HD ready".

It's safe to say the new look certainly got fans talking, with some saying the 19-year-old was unrecognisable, while others noted the resemblance to Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who Chelsea are said to be ready to fight Manchester United and Liverpool in a bid to sign the £120million-rated teen.

Ampadu has been on loan in Germany since the start of the season, but is keen to force his way into the first-team reckoning at Chelsea next term.

The highly-rated midfielder said last month : "I want to show I don't have to go on another loan, go back to Chelsea and hopefully play more minutes there.

"That's the aim. It's what I want to do."
