Wales and British & Irish Lions great George North announces retirement

George North Wales (Organization) Northampton Saints

Wales rugby great George North has announced his retirement from the sport at the end of the current season.
The 34-year-old wing or centre has enjoyed a distinguished career playing for Scarlets, Northampton Saints, Ospreys, and most recently, French side Provence.
North won the Premiership with Northampton Saints and retired from international rugby in 2024.
He earned 121 caps for Wales and participated in two British & Irish Lions tours during his career, winning in Australia in 2013.
In a video announcement, North stated it was the “right time” to retire, expressing gratitude to his family, friends, and supporters.
