Waitrose & Partners is urgently recalling almonds over fears that they may contain salmonella.
The supermarket is urging customers to return Duchy Organic Almonds in 150g packets.
The recall notice said salmonella had been found in one batch of the product.
Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
The Food Standards Agency says Waitrose has recalled the affected product and put up notices in shops warning customers.
The agency said in a statement: "Waitrose & Partners is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.
"These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."
Customers are being warned not to eat the product and instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
