Waitrose recalls muffins because of possible health risk

Waitrose is recalling one of its muffins because of a possible health risk.

The supermarket chain is recalling the 'Patisserie Carrot Cake Muffin 2S' because it contains walnut which is not mentioned on the label due to a labelling error.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to walnuts (nuts).

These are the products affected by the recall:

  • Waitrose Patisserie Carrot Cake Muffin 2S. Best before 5 February, 2021. Allergens Nuts (walnut).

The FSA states on its website: "This product contains walnuts (nuts) making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to walnuts (nuts).

"Waitrose is recalling the above product from customers. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

"These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to walnuts (nuts) do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
