Retail: Thousands of new jobs have been announced by supermarket giants. Sainsbury's plans to create 20,000 jobs across the UK over the next three years, reports the Daily Mail. Morrisons has announced it will create 5,700 new jobs by opening new stores - and 300 through its expansion in manufacturing. Waitrose is also planning to create 3,000 jobs this year, reports the Press Association. The food and drinks retailer will open 39 stores in 2011, including new supermarkets in Jersey and Guernsey, Stratford, Exeter, Marlow and Newton Mearns in Glasgow.
Motoring: AA Ireland is creating 40 jobs at its Dublin headquarters, reports Independent.ie.The motoring organisation is looking to fill roles across the business, including opportunities within AA Rescue, its call centre and in web development.
Leisure and hospitality: Up to 35 new jobs will be created when restaurant chain Nando's opens a new branch in Carlisle next month. The company is recruiting for a range of positions including waiting staff and food grillers ahead of the branch opening on 24 February. A recruitment day for the branch will be held on 1 February, reports the News & Star.
Factory: Bakery firm Greggs is to create up to 300 jobs by building a factory in Wiltshire. The new factory in Amesbury is part of plans to open up to 250 shops in the south west over the next few years. The new site would operate around-the-clock for six-and-a-half days a week, reports the BBC.
Food: Domino's Pizza has announced it will be creating up to 1,700 new jobs in 2011. The pizza delivery firm says it plans to open 55 new stores this year - which each employ 25 to 30 staff on average - reports The Grapevine Online.
