A recent survey from Waitrose revealed that 28% of people were stocking up on wine and Champagne for the Christmas season earlier than in previous years.
Rebecca Hull, Champagne and sparkling buyer at Waitrose, comments; “The festive period is the perfect time to indulge in a little luxury and despite no celebratory events this year, shoppers are still embracing the sheer decadence of a glass of fizz.
"While Champagne remains a popular choice, it’s fantastic to see shoppers broadening their sparkling horizons as the popularity of our English sparkling wine range continues to grow.”
The supermarket has also seen a rise in sales of its frozen canapés range as shoppers plan for uncertainty over the festive season.
From the tasty Christmas party foods on offer, the Butterflied King Prawns and Breaded King Prawns have been the most popular options among customers.
