John Lewis set up new contactless gift cards to help their self-isolating customers

New gift cards have been created by John Lewis in support of customers who are unable to get to the shops.

Available from £10, the gift cards can be sent to family members and friends in the form of a simple barcode that can redeemed in local John Lewis and Waitrose stores.

The new initiative has been introduced in a bid to alleviate online traffic. Booking slots at Waitrose remain limited as food shoppers battle for available time slots.

Gift cards can be purchased online today at johnlewisgiftcard.com

At Waitrose new time slots for both home delivery and Click & Collect are added on a daily basis. They are doled out on a first-come-first-served basis.

Those who manage to secure a slot are kindly asked to limit deliveries to once per week while the priority remains focused on their elderly and vulnerable customer-base.

Waitrose deliveries require a minimum £60 spend. Collections require a minimum spend of £40.
