Waitrose issues urgent product recall over possible health risk

People who shop at Waitrose should check their fridge, as the supermarket has issued an urgent product recall.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an alert over Waitrose's Sour Cream and Chive Mix, because it contains wheat which wasn't mentioned on the label.

The product being recalled is the 150g packet size, with a best before date of December 21, 2019.

The FSA says no other Waitrose products are known to be affected.

The risk statement says: "This product contains wheat making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten."

Waitrose's announcement says people with wheat allergies or intolerance should not consume the product but can return it for a full refund.

The supermarket added: "We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience called."
