Waitress musical London: Tickets, cast, songs and everything you need to know about the new show from Broadway

Acclaimed Broadway show Waitress opened in the West End earlier this year.

It’s one of a host of fabulous musicals making the journey across the pond.

Singer-songwriter and six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles wrote the music and lyrics to go along with Jessie Nelson’s book, and Diane Paulus comes along to direct. With Lorin Latarro’s choreography, the show made history as the first ever Broadway musical to have four women in the top four creative positions.

Here is everything you need to know about Waitress the Musical.

What is Waitress about?

Based on Adrienne Shelley’s film of the same name, Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a small town pie-maker who dreams about a way out of her loveless marriage. When a baking contest and the arrival of a new doctor in the town offer her the chance at a new start, she has to find the strength to rebuild her life.

Where and when is Waitress running?

Waitress is currently booking at the Adelphi Theatre until January 2020.

Who is in the Waitress cast?

Lucie Jones recently took over the lead role of Jenna from Katharine McPhee, with Ashley Roberts making her West End debut as Dawn. Also in the cast are David Hunter, Marisha Wallace, Blake Harrison and Peter Hannah. Laura Baldwin will return to play Dawn at the end of the summer.

Who wrote the songs from Waitress?

Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles has written the music and lyrics. The songs include She Used to Be Mine, which she released as the lead single on her fifth studio album What's Inside: Songs from Waitress. Bareilles achieved mainstream success with her single Love Song in 2007.
