Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre: First look at pictures of Katharine McPhee in West End musical

Wake up and smell the pie – the first production images have been released for the West End production of Waitress.

The musical, which comes fresh from a smash-hit run on Broadway, will open on March 7 at London’s Adelphi Theatre.

Katharine McPhee stars as Jenna, a small town waitress who pours her heart into her pies. Stuck in an abusive marriage and pregnant with her husband’s baby, she begins an affair with the local doctor, played by David Hunter, who could give her a chance at a happier life.

Jack McBrayer, Laura Baldwin, Peter Hannah and Marisha Wallace complete the leading cast.

Jessie Nelson has adapted the musical, based on a 2007 film by Adrienne Shelly. With songs by six-time Grammy Award nominee Sara Bareilles, direction by Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro, Waitress is the first ever musical on Broadway and the West End to have all four top creative spots filled by women.

Waitress runs at the Adelphi Theatre from March 7-October 19.
