Waiting for Noel Gallagher? Here are 11 of his most SCATHING rants to enjoy

It is fair to say Noel Gallagher loves a rant.

And when his outbursts are almost as good as his tunes, who are we to complain.

Over the last 25 years, almost nobody in showbiz has been spared the wrath of Noel's acid tongue.

And as he prepares to headline Newcastle's This Is Tomorrow festival, we look back in laughter at some of his best quips.

1) On his brother, Liam

"I love our kid - just not as much as I love Pot Noodles."

2) Again, on Liam (we could do a whole thread on the younger sibling alone)

"He's rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He's the angriest man you'll ever meet.

"He's like a man with a fork in a world of soup."

3) On his dislike for indie band Alt-J

"One of them's got a moustache, and that's unacceptable."

4) On Adele

"Adele? I'm not a fan. She always comes on the radio when I'm having my cornflakes: 'Hello?' No, f*** off!"

5) On why he ditched the drugs in the 90s

"One day in 1998, I said, 'Everybody out.' And that was it.

This is Tomorrow crowd react as Foals gig cancelled due to unsafe barriers

"It was a moment of clarity. You can’t keep having the same conversation in your kitchen about the pyramids and David Icke."

6) On why front men shouldn't play the guitar (presumably said before the High Flying Birds came about...)

"The further away Bono stays from a guitar, the better.

"Chris Martin is a frontman, but not when he’s playing guitar. Mick Jagger is a frontman. When he plays the guitar he looks like a d***.

"Liam used to pick up the guitar and we’d all go, 'Ha ha, no. What are you playing it up there [on your chest] for?'”

7) On success

"You don't have to be great to be successful. Look at Phil Collins."

8) On chart position defining success

"Chart positions are for people with manbags who get to work at 11 A.M. because they've been at a digital meeting."

9) On Jack White, from the White Stripes

"Jack White has just done a song for Coca-Cola. End of. He ceases to be in the club. And he looks like Zorro on doughnuts."

10) On the modern music industry

"It's a sad state when more people retweet than buy records."

11) But it isn't all scathing - in fact, there's actually one act Noel surprisingly loves

"I love the Bee Gees, but only the pre-disco stuff. From '64 to '69, I've got all their albums."
