Given how much the Internet has transformed the media, it's surprising how little money traditional media companies make from it, says commentator Richard Siklos. He has taken a look at the financial statements of some of the biggest media companies and discovered... well, not too much. "You won't find separately broken-out figures [for online profits] at Disney, Viacom, or Time Warner (aside from AOL)", he writes, and concludes that "at this time of upheaval and gloom about media's prospects, it is funny to think about how much money there is still to be made in the good old offline world."
