'Waffling!' - Chelsea fans can't believe what Gary Neville said about N'Golo Kante

Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville has caused quite a stir amongst Chelsea fans.

With no Premier League football to discuss this summer, the pundit has made the temporary switch from Sky Sports to ITV to offer his insightful analysis on the European Championships.

However, he may have made a glaring error at half-time of France's last-16 clash against Switzerland as he was critical of how the reigning world champions fared in the first-half.

The bulk of Neville's ire was directed at Les Bleus' midfield setup with N'Golo Kante partnering Manchester United's Paul Pogba in the engine room.

In criticising the duo and their role in Switzerland taking the lead, Neville suggested that Kante can't play in a midfield two.

Now, given Kante was superb playing alongside Jorginho in last month's Champions League final just a month ago, it's no surprise there has been a massive reaction from Chelsea fans on social media.

Even if it was a slip of the tongue from Neville and he just got caught up in the moment, Blues supporters are not going to let him live this comment down that easy.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

@CFC_WN said: "Gary Neville just said Kante doesn’t play in a 2 in midfield."

@cfcCharlie4 said: "Did Gary Neville just say kante doesn’t play in a 2 man midfield."

@JoeCFC__ said: "Gary Neville is waffling about Kanté not being able to play in a double pivot.....all of Kante’s best seasons have been in a two man midfield."
