Wael al-Qadi reminds Gasheads of his passion for Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers president Wael al-Qadi has come in for some stick from fans of late as his promises to improve the facilities at the club have been slow to materialise following a number of set-backs.

In the past 12 months the owner has been uncharacteristically quiet in public forums after arriving at the club on a wave of optimism and openness in February 2016 following Dwane Sports' acquisition of a 92 per cent stake in the club.

He has become increasingly withdrawn from the fans as he continues to work hard behind the scenes to find the investment needed to build a new stadium and training ground.

However on Wednesday night, following Rovers' 7-0 victory over Dublin side St Mochta's, Gasheads were given a reminder of his passion for Bristol Rovers and the club's players as al-Qadi interrupted a club interview with hat-trick scorer Tom Nichols to celebrate with the player.

It has been a tough couple of seasons for Nichols who has scored just five goals in 89 competitive games for the club, but has kept the majority of fans, and his managers on side with his impressive workrate, assists and mentality as a team player.

But fans were delighted to see him hit the back of the net three times just as much as al-Qadi.

In the video above, al-Qadi comes running in for a hug and says: "Hat-trick hero, keep it up."

Brilliantly Nichols replies: "About time aye."

Taking to social media fans voiced their approval.

Nick Hibbs wrote on Twitter: "Great to see this. No doubt that Wael is a Gashead!!"

David Townsend wrote: "Whether you agree or not with the progress of the club you have to say fair play for being in Dublin for a pre season friendly. I believe he has the best interests of the club at heart. UTG!"

B Marsh added: "Nice to see Wael is over there UTG."

Lorraine took to Twitter to write: "Brilliant, love this."
