Wael al-Qadi presented Will Smith with a Bristol Rovers shirt and fans have immediately taken the mickey

The transfer window has not yet opened, but it looks as though Wael al-Qadi already has hopes of a new signing, after giving a shirt to none other than film star Will Smith.

The president of Bristol Rovers posted a picture to his Instagram showing him presenting the rapper and actor with his own blue and white shirt, complete with Smith on the back.

The number 25 shirt, which is technically the number worn by midfielder Abumere Ogogo, was given to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star at the Jordan premiere of Aladdin , in which Will Smith stars as the genie of the lamp.

The business man wrote: "Where there's a 'Will' there's a way. Will he be the first signing of the season?"

The star's birthday is September 25, and believed to be be the reason for the choice in shirt number.

While it is unlikely fans will see the Men In Black star taking to the pitch at the Mem this season, or even attending a match, it seems they had plenty to say about the gesture.

One Instagram user (@t1nar) wrote: "Love this! Hope he promised to grant you three wishes... New stadium, back to back promotions for the next two seasons and Premiership title winners by 2022 #UTG"

Another Instagram commenter (@casualgas) wrote: "I hope he can drive a digger because that training ground won't get built by itself."
