Wade Miley pitched his no-hitter after his son gave him a Hulk tattoo

Wade Miley threw baseball’s second no-hitter in three days, leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-0 win over the Cleveland Indians on Friday night in what Miley called a “surreal” moment.

Miley, who carried a perfect game into the sixth winning, walked one and struck out eight on 114 pitches.

After the game, Miley credited his four-year old son, Jeb, who he allowed to give him a temporary tattoo of the Hulk on his left forearm before the game against the Indians. He told Bally Sports Ohio that he might consider making it a more permanent thing.

“I’ve got to give a little shout-out, my son made me wear this Hulk tattoo on my forearm,” Miley said. “I might have to get the real Hulk tattoo.”

If not for the memory of his no-hitter, for the superstition of it all.

Miley’s no-no was Major League Baseball’s fourth no-hitter this season, and interestingly enough, the second no-hitter against the Indians this season, which last happened to Seattle in 2019.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, this is the earliest in a calendar year where there were been four no-hitters since 1917 and the second season in MLB history to have four no-hitters before the end of May.
