Wacha, Cardinals bullpen hold off Diamondbacks, 5-3

ST. LOUIS _ Michael Wacha survived a three-walk first inning and five free passes in five innings and Jose Martinez cracked a three-run homer to highlight a four-run third inning against Arizona ace Zack Greinke in a 5-3 Cardinals win on Saturday at chilly Busch Stadium. The game-time temperature was 37 degrees, coldest on record for a Cardinals game here.

Wacha gained his first win as he allowed two runs over five innings. The Cardinals (4-4) received stout relief from four relievers, who allowed one unearned run over the last four innings, with Bud Norris gaining his first Cardinals save. Norris struck out three men in the ninth, including Diamondbacks star Paul Goldschmidt, who represented the tying run.

Marcell Ozuna, who drove in the other run in the four-run third, had three singles for the Cardinals.

A.J. Pollock was 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk for the Diamondbacks (6-2).
