Police were also searching for a black BMW X5, registration 1FBE 666, which detectives believe may have been involved in the incident.

They are interested in its movements on Thursday September 29, between the early afternoon and late evening, prior to its recovery in Glen Forrest.

On Friday, Police Commissioner Col Blanch vowed to crack down on criminal gangs across the state.

"If you get out of line, you start doing things like this, then the gang crime squad will come for you," he said.

"If people think that they can, in cold blood, shoot people in Western Australia, then the police will be coming for them."

The gang crime squad and other specialist units raided properties in Scarborough and Greenfields over the weekend.
