WA Liberals offer $500m for new hospital

Liza Harvey says a $500 million hospital for Perth is part of the Liberal's five-year recovery plan. (AAP)

The West Australian opposition will spend $500 million on a new maternity and gynecological hospital in Perth if the party wins the state election in March.

Liberal leader Liza Harvey says the facility will form part of the QEII medical precinct and is included in the party's five-year COVID-19 recovery plan.

"We believe WA deserves a world-class tertiary, maternity and gynecological hospital that offers the highest standards of care," Ms Harvey said on Sunday.

"Families right across this state deserve no less."

The new hospital would replace the ageing King Edward Memorial Hospital.

The Liberals have also pledged an extra $60 million for the Maternal and Child Health Research Fund.

West Australians are due to go to the polls on March 13, 2021.
