WA in full control v Victoria in Shield

First innings centurion Cameron Bancroft helped get WA off to a good start in their second dig. (AAP)

Western Australia cleaned up the Victorian tail and then sought to build a significant total as the home side eye a vital outright win in the Sheffield Shield.

At lunch on day two, WA were 0-60 in their second innings, an overall lead of 244 at the WACA.

Cameron Bancroft (23) and Sam Whiteman (35) were the not out batsmen.

Earlier WA had set up a big lead when they had the Bushrangers all out for 207.

Resuming at 7-186, any thoughts of replicating WA's lower-order revival were quickly put to bed as the Victorians added only three runs before Scott Boland (20) was caught at point off the bowling of Matthew Kelly (4-43).

Will Sutherland (25) and Mitchell Perry (8) followed shortly thereafter, leaving the visitors 184 runs behind on first innings.

Lance Morris took 3-41.

Bancroft and Whiteman then built a further buffer, WA likely to contemplate a declaration towards day's end as both sides chase an outright win to keep their slim finals hopes alive.
