MUMBAI: Batting great VVS Laxman, currently the chairman of the BCCI's National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, will be Team India's head coach during their white-ball tour of New Zealand which is scheduled just after the T20 World Cup, TOI has learnt.

"The support staff of the Indian team in the ongoing T20 World Cup-head coach Rahul Dravid, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour will return to Indi a after the tournament to take a well-deserved break after being on the road for the past couple of months. They will then go for the Bangladesh tour with Team India. Hrishikesh Kanitkar (batting coach) an d Sairaj Bahutule (bowling coach) will be with Laxman as support staff of the Indian team there," a source in the BCCI said.

India will play three T20Is and three ODIs in New Zealand from November 18.

With India fielding two teams a few times this year, Laxman has served as the India head coach on quite a few occasions (on the tours of Ireland, Zimbabwe, ODIs against South Af rica at home) while Dravid was in charge of the 'main' squad.

Former domestic warhorse Sitanshu Kotak, is likely to be the head coach of the India A team which will tour Bangladesh.
