Vulnerable woman robbed while she was inside her car on Motherwell street

Police are appealing for witnesses after a vulnerable woman was robbed in Motherwell.

At around 2.50pm yesterday (December 14), a handbag and its contents were stolen from the lady’s vehicle whilst she was inside.

The shocking incident happened on Gavin Street.

Police are looking for a suspect who is described as male, white, 6ft 1in, medium build, sandy brown hair, wearing a grey hooded top and grey jogging bottoms.

Some of the victim’s property was found a short distance away, however a sizeable amount of cash is still unaccounted for.

Sergeant Liam Bryson from Motherwell Police Station said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed this incident or noted anything suspicious.

“We are also asking those who have CCTV or dash cams to check their footage from the time in case something was picked up.

“I am further appealing to anyone who is aware of who did this. If you do not wish you contact police with information, you can contact Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. This is completely anonymous and may greatly help our enquiries.

“This a serious crime with a vulnerable victim. Any information could be invaluable. Thank you”.
